Laurus Trust | The Cicero Curriculum
Students at Cheadle Hulme High School gathered for a momentous event, as Patsy Rodenburg (who is a member of the RSC Board and known for her tireless passion for the importance of the spoken word) introduced her unique Culture, Creativity & Rhetoric Curriculum - “The Cicero Curriculum”. Patsy was joined by two of her ex drama students Paapa Essiedu (best known for his acclaimed role of Hamlet at the RSC) and Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom. Orlando, Paapa and Patsy worked with the Education team from the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) to run a series of fun and inspiring sessions for students at Cheadle Hulme High School and roll out the new curriculum for students across Laurus Trust schools.
The workshops aimed to inspire the students to explore and enjoy drama, but also develop teaching skills that will help them with university, job interviews, confidence, critical thinking, debating, general presentation and more.
We created a motivating event film to celebrate the idea and project. Filming alongside the BBC's - The One Show, we took an 'up-close-and-personal" approach to get a personal view of the event. James even made a small, (albeit, background) appearance in the One Show's screening back in 2017.
